Let’s have a talk about your HITTING TIMING. Let’s begin by saying, the biggest “thing” that you’re timing as a hitter is NOT your swing, it’s your EYES! And.., what controls your eyes is your brain.
Next, undervalued and misunderstood by most coaches is the concept of “hitting-tempo”. There are only 2 speeds to work from, slow or sudden. A hitter’s TEMPO affects the hitter’s VISION!
Lastly, listening to a coach who is trying to fit all of his hitters into ONE STYLE is not a good idea. There is a possibility that it may work out..but, again you’re taking a risk. The alternative is to correctly assess the player’s natural athletic disposition and match him/her up with a model/style that fits their “Hitting DNA”.
